Shoppers will have chance at $300 jackpot

The Late Night Shopping jackpot has rolled to $300 this week after none of the five lucky spinners landed on the big money last week.

Holiday shoppers can again enjoy extended hours at downtown merchants this Thursday night; and while they’re checking items off their lists, they can also sign up for a chance to spin the wheel and win prizes from 24 local businesses.

And this week, Santa Claus is coming to town Thursday night and will be inside the Burton Memorial Library along with Mrs. Claus and some of their elves for pictures and refreshments.

The Chamber of Commerce is providing the $100 in Christmas Cash each night of Late Night Shopping. Five lucky winners will be drawn; and if no one hits the big money, the pot rolls over and will continue to do so until the final night of Late Night Shopping on December 20 when someone will win the money.

Last week’s winners were Jan Ferris, Darrell Durham, Nancy Taylor, Jewel Judd, and Trina Wright.

Merchants on Kearney Street stay open until 8 p.m. during Late Night Shopping, and refreshments are available at various businesses and at the Downtown Ministry Center. Late Night Shopping will continue December 13 and 20.

In addition to providing the jackpot money for Late Night Shopping every Thursday night, the Chamber of Commerce is also making big plans for a Christmas Celebration this weekend.

On Saturday, December 15, the Chamber will sponsor festivities on the KEFH parking lot at US 287 and Sully Street beginning at 4 p.m. The plans call for live music and an appearance by that Jolly Old Elf himself – Santa Claus! The festivities will continue over on Kearney Street where shoppers are encouraged to support our local merchants.
