Funeral services for Orvis Jean “Jeannie” Cates, age 50, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2000, in Robertson Chapel of Memories with Brian Gochenour, Minister of the Clarendon Church of Christ, officiating.  Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc. of Clarendon.

Ms. Cates died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in Pampa.  She was born October 14, 1949 in Pampa.  She had lived in Plainview for twelve years and then Lubbock for two years before moving to Pampa one month ago.  She was employed as an MHMR advocate.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Torri Brook Cates, on July 14, 1978.

Survivors include her parents, O.O. and Bernice Crocker of Howardwick; two sons, Tim Landon of Amarillo and Heath Cates of Plainview; and four sisters, Dorothy Consel of Ormand, Florida, Emma Reed of Amarillo, Rachel Mannering of Edgewood, Texas, and Linda Mason of Fort Worth.

Casket bearers were Clay Wright, Tim Landon, Robert Barton, Heath Cates, Benjamin Bain, and Brandon Richards.
