Hood

Funeral services for J.W. Hood, age 73, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2000, in Robertson Chapel of Memories with Lance Wood of Hardesty, Oklahoma, officiating.  Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc.

Mr. Hood died Monday, June 19, 2000, at Granite Shoals, Texas.  He was born March 31, 1927, in Estelline.  He was a resident of Turkey, Texas, for several years before moving to Granite Shoals eleven years ago.  He married Louise Corgill on March 13, 1981, at Tucumcari, NM.  He was in the wholesale propane and gas business and farmed for much of his life before his retirement.  He was a US Air Force Veteran of World War II and was an Episcopalian.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Hood of Granite Shoals; three daughters, Debbie Douty of Kileen, Nancy Hood of Atlanta, GA, and Reta Barry of Taylor; two sons, David Hood of Austin and Bo Garvin of Big Spring; one sister, Nelda Ferrel of Childress; one brother, Harlan Hood of Amarillo; and ten grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Don Ferrel, Billy Ferrel, Chuck Hood, Mike Ferrel, Brian D. Strange, Brian Paul Cook, Johnny King, Tommy Latta, and J.B. Haskins.
