Cushing

Funeral services for Susie Ione Cushing, age 89, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2001, in the Silverton United Methodist Church with Jay Stinson, Pastor, and Ed Norris, retired minister, officiating.  Burial was held in Silverton Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc.

Mrs. Cushing died Tuesday, January 16, 2001, in Lockney, Texas.  She was born May 7, 1911, in Sterling County, Texas, and was a resident of Ector County before moving to Briscoe County in 1949.  She married William Ernest “Bill” Cushing on May 11, 1931, at Carlsbad, NM.  He preceded her in death on December 21, 1979.  She was a homemaker and was involved in ranching most of her life.  She was a member of the Silverton United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Gayle Smith, on January 4, 2000.

Survivors include one sister, Marie Revell, of Houston; one brother, R.D. Garrett of Houston; a son-in-law, Mike Smith of Clarendon; two grandsons, Bill Smith of Silverton and Lee Smith of Silverton; two great grandchildren, Ashley Smith and Shayna Smith, both of Silverton; and several nieces and nephews.
