Shannon

Funeral services for Emma Jessie Shannon, age 93, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2001, in the First Baptist Church in Clarendon with Rev. Truman Ledbetter, Pastor, officiating.  Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc.

Mrs. Shannon died Wednesday, January 17, 2001, in Frisco, Texas.  She was born May 26, 1907, in Duke, Oklahoma, and had been a Clarendon resident since 1930.  She married Floyd Shannon January 4, 1958, at Carlsbad, New Mexico.  He preceded her in death on June 8, 1987.  She was a supervisor with GTE Telephone Company for 33 years before her retirement.  She was a 50-year member of the Clarendon Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #6 and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two nieces, Silua Goodwin of Celina, Texas, and Lenora Bidwell of Favens, Texas.

Casket bearers were Irven Thomas, James Thomas, Arlis Thomas, Gib Martindale, Edwin Campbell, and Richard Gribble.
