McDaniel
Funeral
services for James Burton “Jake” McDaniel, age 92, were held at 1:30
p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2001, in the Eastview Cemetery in Vernon,
Texas, with Rev. Bryan Knowles, Pastor of Community Fellowship Church in
Clarendon, officiating. Burial
was held in Eastview Cemetery in Vernon under the direction of Robertson
Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.
Mr.
McDaniel died Monday, February 19, 2001, in Childress.
He was born April 22, 1908, in Young County.
At an early age, he moved with his family to Wilbarger County and
attended and graduated from East Vernon School.
On December 24, 1932, he married Yvonne Belle Key in Vernon and
they lived there until moving to Donley County in 1944.
She preceded him in death on November 25, 1995.
He was a farmer and cattleman.
He and his wife were members of a riding club and participated in
all area parades until just a few years ago.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarendon.
He
was preceded in death by a son, James Burton McDaniel, Jr., on September
23, 1951, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Meyers.
Survivors
include one sister, Berniece Anderson of Hedley; one niece and her
husband, Romaine and Harold Gouge of Levelland; two sisters-in-law, Rosa
Le Keene of Sherman and Mildred Hoffman of Gainesville; and numerous
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
