Strickland

Funeral services for Johnnie Lorena Strickland, age 88, were held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2002, in the First Christian Church in Clarendon with Leonard Holt, minister, officiating.  Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., in Clarendon.

Mrs. Strickland died Wednesday, August 14, 2002, in Clarendon.  She was born August 23, 1913, to Arthur Bethel and Lillian Cooper Bethel in Flomont, Texas.  She married Vernon Lyle on October 1929.  He died January 12, 1938.  She married Ray Strickland in 1975 in Center, Texas.  He died August 25, 2001.  She had lived in Tenaha, Texas, for the past 26 years, moving back to Clarendon following the death of Mr. Strickland last year.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ray Lyle, in January 1940.

Survivors include two daughters, Eva Lee Swinney of Clarendon and Carolyn Hayes of LaPorte; three sons, Clinton Webb of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Jimmy Webb of Morton, Texas; and Doyle Webb of Goldthwaite, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 14 great great grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Sean Barnes, Derek Mears, Bradley Swinney, Adam Lamberth, Terry Webb, and Rick Webb.
