Services for Emalea London, age
92, were conducted on Saturday, June 7, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Church
of Christ in Groom with Kent Watson, minister of the Claude Church of
Christ, officiating. Graveside services followed in Groom Cemetery with
services under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of
Clarendon.
Mrs. London died Tuesday, June 3,
2003, in Amarillo, Texas. She
was born December 9, 1910, in Wheeler and had lived in
Groom since 1945. She
graduated from Mobeetie High School in 1927, from Clarendon College in
1954, and from West Texas State University in 1969.
She married John V. London on August 17, 1935, in Sayre, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death
by her husband on September 1, 1964, and was a homemaker and a member of
the Groom Church of Christ.
Survivors include two
daughters, Sylvia Bentley of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Sandra Black of
Amarillo; two sons, Jack London of Austin and John London of Amarillo; one
sister, Fern Trott of Bay City, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great
grandchildren.
Casket
bearers were Jett Black, Randy Black, John Black, Mark London, Jonathan
London, Scott Bentley, Jason Black, Keith Weaver, and Paul London.
Honorary Bearer was Dr. Keith Black.
