Smith

Funeral services for B.W. Smith, age 88, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2003, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin Brooks, Pastor of St. Stephen’s Baptist Church in Clarendon, officiating.  Burial will be held in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.

Mr. Smith died Saturday, September 6, 2003, in Pampa.  He was born January 2, 1915, in Gilmer, Texas, and had been a Clarendon resident most of his life.  He married Beatrice V. Jones on March 7, 1934, at Gilmer.  He was retired from the railroad and had farmed for several years prior to his retirement.  He was a member of the St. Stephen’s Baptist Church in Clarendon.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Combs; and two brothers, Neal Smith and George Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Smith of Clarendon; three daughters, Essie Jean McCampbell, Doris Gardner, and Joann Brown all of Clarendon; five sons, Bobby Smith, Curtis Smith, B.W. Smith, Jr., all of Amarillo; Billy Smith of Memphis; and Archie Smith of Mesquite; one sister, Essie Shoels of Amarillo; 31 grandchildren; 78 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
