Burial was held in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon.

Mrs. Bell died Thursday, January 1, 2004, in Lubbock.  She was born May 12, 1923, in Clarendon and was a lifetime resident of Clarendon. She married Shelby C. Bell on May 9, 1943, at Amarillo.  She had spent a lifetime touching almost every life in Clarendon through her medical career as an LVN, Registered Laboratory Technologist, and X-Ray Technician with the Adair Hospital and Gilkey Clinic in Clarendon.  She was always there when she was needed to comfort and care for those in need.  Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her.  She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.  The saddest day for Betty was the day she had to leave Clarendon, the town and home she loved so much, and all her lifelong friends.  She never forgot any of them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby C. Bell, and one son, Stephen Bell.

Survivors include four sons, Shelby Bell and wife Andrea, Robert Bell and wife Sharon, Jack Bell and wife Carol, all of Lubbock; Richard Bell and wife Judy of The Woodlands, Texas; one sister, Agnes Heironimus of Enid, Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren: Chris, Tim, Nathan, Jennifer, Michael, Robert, Brittany, and Ryan.

Casket bearers were Shelby Christopher Bell, Michael Shane Bell, Timothy Andrew Bell, Nathan Charles Bell, Bill Spier, and Mike Spier.
