Oatman
Funeral
services for Ross H. Oatman, age 76, of Quail were held at 2:00 p.m. on
Friday, January 9, 2004, at the Faith Baptist Church in Wellington with
Rev. Ronnie Lambert, Pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Elvis Pitts,
retired Baptist Minister from Amarillo.
Burial was held at the Quail Cemetery in Quail, Texas.
Mr.
Oatman died Tuesday, January 6, 2004, in Clarendon. He was born on October 29, 1927, in Childress County, Texas,
to Harvey Clay Oatman and Ethel May Tackel Oatman. He married Billie Thomas on December 21, 1951, at Hedley.
He was a member, deacon, and song leader of the Faith Baptist
Church. Ross was a former
member of the Young Farmers of Quail and the Donley County Farm Committee.
He was an avid sports fan. Ross
served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a farmer and rancher.
Survivors
include his wife, Billie Oatman of Quail; two sons, Tommy Ross Oatman of
Pampa and Harvey Oatman of Clarendon; one daughter, Lenora Barnes of
Perryton; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great
great-grandchildren.
The
family requests memorials to the Faith Baptist Church or the Quail
Cemetery.
Pallbearers
were Harvey Oatman, Tommy Oatman, James Thomas, Irven Thomas, Gary Thomas,
and Arlis Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Rogers, Paul Fielding, Tom
Shultz, C.H. Jones, Leon Morrison, Delbert White, Donald Langley, and
Randy Barnes.
