Funeral services for Oceola
“Scotty” Boomer, age 90, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday,
March 27, 2006, in the First United Methodist Church in Claude, with Rev.
Janet Edwards, Pastor, and Don Travis, officiating.
Burial was held in Claude Cemetery in Claude under the direction of
Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc.
Mrs. Boomer was born
on a farm between Claude and Goodnight to Samuel and Beaulah Scott on
March 25, 1915. She married
Lynn Boomer on September 5, 1936, in Claude, Texas.
She was a lifelong resident of Claude.
She was a homemaker. She
was active in the community throughout her life and also was involved with
many volunteer activities. She
had been past worthy matron of the Claude Eastern Star, and a member for
well over 50 years. She was
also a member of Methodist Unity Study Club, the Friday Bridge Group,
Library and Cemetery Boards, and for years served on Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in
Claude for more than 50 years.
She was preceded in
death by her husband, Lynn, on February 14, 1972, and one great
grandchild, Jada Bates.
Survivors include one
daughter, Ginger Kennedy of Fort Worth; one son, Scott Boomer of Claude;
three grandchildren, Kelli Kennedy and husband Frank, Kimberley Kennedy
Curero and husband Ruben; and Kathy Sanchez and husband Ram; and five
great grandchildrenf: Neenah Cuero, Leelah Cuero, Hunter Bates, Cynthia
Sanchez, and Mary Beth Sanchez.
Pallbearers were
Nolan Sanders, Frank Howard, Bob Byrd, John Ballard, Charles Cobb, Joe
Blanton, Sam Stewart, and Joe Nelson.
Honorary bearers were Bill Nuttall, Roy Rutherford, Tom Messer, Tom
Harkey, Tom Christian, Howard Dye, Bill Burcham, Clyde Laurence, Johnnie
Brown, and Wallace Stewart.
The family requests
that memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church in Claude,
Claude Volunteer Fire Department, Claude EMS, or a favorite charity.
