Funeral services for
J.W. Hatley, age 87, were held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March
24, 2006, in the Church of Christ in Clarendon with Eddie Stegall,
Minister, officiating. Burial was held at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon
under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc.
Mr. Hatley died
Thursday, March 23, 2006, in Amarillo.
He was born January 20, 1919, in Brice, Texas, to John Walker
Hatley and Artie Bains Hatley. He
was born and raised a resident of Brice/Lesly Community and attended
school in Lakeview. He
married Estal Louise Clark on August 2, 1947, at Amarillo.
He was a World War II veteran in the US Army.
He was a farmer and rancher. He
has lived in Clarendon the past ten years.
He was a member of the Clarendon Church of Christ in Clarendon.
He was preceded in
death by his wife, Estal Louise, on January 26, 1996.
Survivors include two
daughters, Jaci McAnear of Clarendon and Tonda Gowdy of Amarillo; one son,
Kirby Hatley of Clarendon; one sister, Joanna Haynes of Amarillo; six
grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
The family requests
that memorials be to the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 364,
Clarendon, Texas 79226-0364.
