Linnie
Floyd Martin, 92, died Friday, November 3, 2006, at Amarillo.
Services were held at
2:00 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2006 in the Community Fellowship Church in
Clarendon with Rev. Roger Smith, Pastor, and Rev. Darrell Burton, Pastor
of the Martin Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery
in Lakeview.
Mrs. Martin was born
December 30, 1913, in Cook County, Texas to Eli and Vira Davis Floyd. She
married Aubrey Martin in January 1933 at Lakeview. She had been a resident
of Brice and Hall County most of her life.
She was very
influential at being a missionary. She helped feed children in Africa and
Kenya. She also helped establish a Christian oriented library in Kenya.
She was involved in anything that was educational or spiritual. She always
was meeting the needs of the Brice community. She was a compassionate lady
and served selflessly. She also ministered to the people at Memphis
Convalescent Center during her time there. She loved the Lord, her family,
and the community. She was a homemaker and a member of the Community
Fellowship Church in Clarendon.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; her husband on August 11, 1982; 2 brothers; 2
sisters and 1 grandson, Blaine McWhirter.
Survivors include 2
daughters, Shirley Palmer and husband Art of Tucumcari, N.M. and Connie
McWhirter and husband Macky of Plains; 1 son, Ronnie Martin and wife
Janice of Lubbock; 4 grandchildren, Kelly Pederson and husband Raulie,
Lisa Mangold and husband David, Braden McWhirter and wife Darinda, Blake
McWhirter and wife Amber; 10 great-grandchildren.
The family requests
memorials be to Memphis Convalescent Center, Hospice of the Southwest, or
the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon.
