Gordon William Schaffer, 92, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, Pampa, Texas.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2007, in Jericho Cemetery with Rev. Weldon Rives, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Groom, officiating. Burial was held in Jericho Cemetery in Jericho. Services were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.

Mr. Schaffer was born November 22, 1914 in Gray County, to Cleo and Nova Bronzella Shirey Schaffer. He was a lifetime resident of Gray County. He and his wife, Mary Ella Bernard Schaffer, were married more than 50 years at the time of her death on October 8, 2002. He had been a farmer and rancher most of his life prior to his retirement and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Groom.

Mr. Schaffer was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ella; his parents; and a brother, Curtis Schaffer.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Howard and husband Digger of Phoenix, Arizona; one son, Monte Schaffer and wife Sandi of Groom; five grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
