“Cody” McAnear, 64, died Sunday, December 9, 2007, in
Clarendon.
Graveside services will be held at
3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007, in Citizens Cemetery with Rev.
Bryan Knowles and Ralph Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Citizens
Cemetery in Clarendon. Services are under the arrangement of Robertson
Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Cody was born July 28, 1943, in
Clarendon to Alexander Sellkirk and Lorine Reynolds McAnear. He lived in
Goodnight until 1970, then moved to Clarendon. He went to elementary
school at Goodnight until the school closed. He finished his education at
Clarendon, getting an associate’s degree at Clarendon College. He drove
the Clarendon school buses for many years while attending college.
Cody will be remembered by many
for helping his family on their farm, and giving close attention to his
mother in her later years. He and his brother, Jimmy, were partners and
ran for many years McAnear Cattle Company. He was frequently found at the
coffee shops in Clarendon visiting with his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his
father, Kirk McAnear in 1979; his mother, Lorine McAnear on February 18,
2007.
Survivors include five sisters,
Barbara Harmon and husband Ralph of Amarillo, Brenda Barrett of Canyon,
Judy Monk and husband Bill of Amarillo, Deborah Land and husband Steve of
Panhandle, and Sheliah Babbitt of Amarillo; a brother, Jimmy McAnear and
wife Pat of Clarendon; a brother-in-law, Jerry Barrett of Amarillo; and
many, many nieces and nephews whom Cody always gave nicknames.
The family requests memorials be
to Citizens Cemetery Association.
