Ernest
Walter Lamberson, 92, died Thursday, February 14, 2008,
Amarillo.
Services
were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2008, in the First United
Methodist Church in Groom with Rev. Weldon Rives, Pastor, officiating.
Burial was held at Groom Cemetery. Services were under the arrangement of
Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mr.
Lamberson was born in a half dugout on January 23, 1916, near Hedley to
Stock and Cleta Bell Youree Lamberson. He married Shirley Knight on June
21, 1940, in Clarendon. He was a cowboy and worked on several ranches, he
farmed, and he was a carpenter prior to his retirement. He was a resident
of Groom and Clarendon most of his life. He always had colts and horses,
which he loved raising. He was a member of the First United Methodist
Church of Groom.
Mr.
Lamberson was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stocky Lamberson
in 1993; several brothers and sisters; and a great grandchild, Zachary
Vasquez in 2002.
Survivors
include his wife, Shirley of the home; a son, Larry Lamberson and wife
Vicki of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Aimee Lamberson of Panhandle; two
brothers, J.T. Lamberson of Hedley, and Jack Lamberson of Bowie; two
sisters, Willie Nell Waddell of Coleman, and Edna Lou Bulman of Canyon;
six grandchildren: Renae Freeman and husband Phil, Melanie Lamberson, and
Lance Lamberson and wife Mikka all of Panhandle; Todd Lamberson and wife
Marcia of Lubbock; Jill Hodgson and husband Shane of Pflugerville; and
Suzanne Howard of College Station; and 13 great grandchildren.
The
family requests memorials be to the First United Methodist Church of
Groom.
