Jimmy
Dean McAnear, 67, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Amarillo.
Services
were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008, in the Community
Fellowship Church with Rev. Charlie Floyd and Rev. Roger Smith, Pastor,
officiating. Burial was held at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Services
were under the arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Jimmy
was born June 24, 1940, in Clarendon to Alexander Sellkirk and Lorine
Reynolds McAnear. He attended schools at Alanreed, Goodnight, and
Clarendon. He married Pat Owens on June 4, 1960, at Goodnight. He was
engaged in ranching and farming for most of his life. He was employed at
the Hedgecoke, Bridwell, and Pinnell ranches and did day work for many
others. He also farmed for himself. He worked for Pantex for 13 years
prior to his retirement in 1995.
He
was a baptized as a young boy at Goodnight Baptist Church and a later
became a charter member of the Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon.
He
enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing dominoes, and much good-natured
humor, but his greatest love was time spent with his wife and family.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Cody McAnear; and a
grandson, Alexander McAnear.
Survivors
included his wife, Pat of Clarendon; two daughters, Medina Gribble and
husband Richard, and Mandy Jaramillo and husband Joe, all of Clarendon;
three sons, Alex McAnear and wife Penny of Clarendon, Russell McAnear and
wife Stephanie of Amarillo, and Jimmy Wayne McAnear and wife Deborah of
Childress; five sisters, Barbara Harmon and husband Ralph, Judy Monk and
husband Bill, and Sheila Babbit and her late husband Harry, all of
Amarillo, Brenda Barrett of Canyon, Debe Land and husband Steve of
Panhandle; and a brother-in-law Jerry Barrett of Amarillo; 17
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
