Jack
Burl Stafford, 89, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Amarillo.
Graveside
services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Rowe Cemetery
in Hedley with Rev. Bryan Knowles, retired Baptist minister, officiating.
Burial was held at Rowe Cemetery in Hedley. Services were under the
arrangement of Robertson Funeral Directors.
Jack
was born August 31, 1918, in Idabell, Okla. to Francis Lee and Exie Hoover
Stafford. He married Jackie Leach on December 3, 1939, at Memphis. He had
lived in Silverton from 1952-1966 and then moved to Hedley in 1966 where
he has lived since that time. Mr. Stafford had owned and operated the
Silverton and Hedley grocery stores from 1957-1980. After the sale of the
grocery stores, he continued to farm and ranch. He loved working with his
cattle, especially in the later years of his life. He was a member of the
First United Methodist Church in Hedley.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jackie Stafford
on November 4, 2002; seven brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors
include two sons, Bob Stafford and wife Jean and Fred Stafford both of
Amarillo; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
The
family requests memorials be to the Rowe Cemetery Association, Hedley,
Texas.
