Myrtie
Formway, age 90 of Amarillo, died on Tuesday, July 15, 2008.
Funeral services were held at 10
a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008, in the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of
Memories with Bob Miller, Pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial followed in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of
Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Myrtie was born on August 18,
1917, in Commerce. Her family characterized her as a feisty woman who had
a positive outlook, was energetic and independent with a sense of humor
and knowledge of sports – especially the Dallas Cowboys and Texas
Rangers. A “shark” at playing 42, she loved to play and was very
active in the Amarillo Senior Citizens Center. She also loved the patients
she had helped take care of over the years as a Nursing Assistant, and she
was a loving and special Granny to her grandchildren and family.
Survivors include two sons, Albert
M. Formway of Cheyenne, Okla., and Jim Formway of Clarendon; two
daughters, Nadene Naylor of Dyersburn, Tenn.; and Laveta Peters of
Amarillo; three sisters, Marie Sims, Odene Helms, and Clara Mae Seale; 12
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, A.L. “Lec” Formway, and a daughter, Avanell Hughes.
