Mildred
Shaw Jewett, 86, died Sunday, September 7, 2008, in Amarillo.
Services
were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in the Hedley
United Methodist Church with Rev. Ervin Emmert, Pastor, and Rev. Bruce
Howard, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Hedley, officiating. Burial
followed at Rowe Cemetery in Hedley. Services were under the arrangement
of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Mildred
was born October 7, 1921, in Kirkland, Childress County, to Benjamin and
Nancy Henderson James. She married Richard A. Shaw, Sr., on February 14,
1940. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1973. She then married Robert
“Bob” Jewett on December 2, 1978, in Childress. She had been a
resident of Hedley and Estelline for many years. She was a member of the
Hedley Lioness Club. Mildred and her husband, Bob were active members of
the Hedley Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Hedley United
Methodist Church. While her kids were in school, she was very involved in
their many activities. She also loved her grandkids and great grandkids
very much.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and several
brothers and sisters.
Survivors
include her husband, Bob of Hedley; a daughter, Nancy Mullins of Antioch,
Tenn.; two sons, Richard A. Shaw, Jr., and wife Laura of Smithville, MO,
and Randy Shaw and wife Rhonda of Hedley; seven grandchildren; and five
great grandchildren.
The
family requests memorial contributions be made to the Rowe Cemetery
Association or the Hedley Senior Citizens.
