Robert
A. Nichols, 90, of Denton
died Monday, September 15, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.
Funeral services were held
at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at the Southmont Baptist
Church with Dr. Larry Reynolds officiating. Burial was held in the
Roselawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Nichols was born
September 20, 1917, in Clarendon, to S.T. and Maude (Lillard) Nichols. He
was married to Juliette McCall on February 22, 1941, in Mineral Wells. She
died on July 7, 2007. He attended Clarendon College, University of Texas,
and Southern Methodist University Law School. He was an Attorney and Land
Developer. He was a member of the Southmont Baptist Church, President’s
Council, University of North Texas, and past President of the Rotary Club.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as 1st Lt. on Battleship.
Mr. Nichols is survived by
two daughters, Susan and husband Tom Hastings of Valley View, TX, Kathy
James of Cooper Landing, Alaska; a son David and wife Judy Nichols of
Denton; three nieces, RaNell Parker, Martha Northcutt, and Elizabeth
Jones; three nephews, Mark and Turner Baxter and Turner Newton; four
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
a daughter Cindy Nichols, and a grandson, Matt Harper.
